It's been widely acknowledged that sitting is bad for human beings. Some people decided to fight back against the eight more hours spent sitting at a desk in their office jobs by creating standing desks. It seemed like the perfect solution. But actually, a recent study in the Cochrane review studied how worker's health changed when they used an adjustable desk that would allow them to stand or sit. When looking at over 2,000 participants, across 20 studies, the results showed that people only reduced the amount of time they spent sitting by between 30 minutes and two hours. And the studies were unable to find significant health benefits from the change in sitting behavior. In fact, one of the studies' authors said that standing for long periods of time could be just as bad for worker's health.
