How to make healthy eating unbelievably easy | Luke Durward | TEDxYorkU

After breaking his leg, undergraduate student Luke Durward used his time to return home and mentor his little brother on healthy eating. While illustrating his brother's dramatic transformation, Durward shares the obvious secret that is repeatedly overlooked by unsuccessful dieters. TEDxYorkU held its 4th annual event on March 4, 2014 at York University. The theme for the event was Combustion. Alice Ying Shan: I think the presenter may have underestimated just how much of a hero he must have seemed like to his little brother. So besides the environmental factor, the human relationship motivational factor might have been at play here. I postulate that the attention and love he showed his little brother really helped to motivate the process along. Hopefully eventually his brother started realizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle outside of a way to impress his cool older brother. I’ve always found positive sibling relationships very heart warming.

t brown: broke his leg walking is crazy ! oh heeeeaaalll no i been hit by a car and thrown off onto the sidewalk and not even had a bruise ! calamity has very little relationship to being careful but calamity does not deserve to be called a problem it is in fact a chance to produce a power inside

Luke Johnston: This guy has a really good first name

Beverley Cumming: It’s always about your environment...if it’s in your house it’s in your mouth

NicksDomain101: Yeah I wish I could do this but I live with a family with parents who insist on buying all the unhealthy foods

Si mon: He was nervous but he powered through it! However healthy eating is simple - all you have to do is remove all processed foods, refined sugar and white flour from your diet, and eat a strict diet of organic whole foods. That's it. The problem is it requires self discipline which most people lack, hence the growing epidemic of diabetes and obesity.

Rohini A: Kudos to you! You are such a compassionate person. Even when you were sick, you cooked for your brother to help him out. That's so sweet of you! And yes, you did a great job with the presentation. I don't think I would've handled a brain block as well as you did. You have really inspired me! And the message is simply brilliant. I'll try doing this from today:) Thank you so much!

Tony 167: I personaly don't enjoy bad foods anymore..

JConde Uncensored: One of the biggest problems is self love. Once we really start to love ourselves, we can then appreciate what good health can do for us. Many people dont have time for self love because they are taking care of others. It happens all over the world. Take time for yourself because it matters.

OziTheKing: the problem in not having foods that are bad for u is, that i can eat anything too much

Christin K: so what does his broken leg have to do with anything

alexandra silverstein: this guy is hubby material lol

ErykaSoleil: I found this concept easier to employ by changing my shopping habits so that I always started in the Produce section. When you have a limited budget and a limited amount of cart space left over after picking up healthy options, you are less likely to use what's left of either for junk. If you always stop at a McDonald's on your way home from work, try stopping at a grocery store that's also on the way home, if that is an option (having a snack you made at home ready for when you get out of work can help with this, also). He's not the best at speaking to an audience, but I don't expect eveyone to be a smooth presenter when it's not something you do regularly.

Gage Smith: Public speaking arguably induces the most anxiety I have ever felt.. I literally felt axiety watching him forgetting his train of thought. Props to him for getting through it.

Mad Cow Rebel: Welp,, guess it's time to move out of the house.

Raymond Karlsen: Seriously? I just spent 9 minutes to hear that I should not have unhealthy foods around me? Bollocks...

ReallyWeirdTaste: We use a similar method of eating in my house.

Deborah Rose: Yeah! It is this simple.

hellio ringos: That's a cool guy there 😉👍

Davida Lawson: Thank You For This Informative Video.
