After breaking his leg, undergraduate student Luke Durward used his time to return home and mentor his little brother on healthy eating. While illustrating his brother's dramatic transformation, Durward shares the obvious secret that is repeatedly overlooked by unsuccessful dieters. TEDxYorkU held its 4th annual event on March 4, 2014 at York University. The theme for the event was Combustion. Follow us on Twitter @tedxyorku In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
Maria Gradilla: What a great brother
m M: You are such a good brother! Very touching story, very sweet
xkeo21: uut and aboot
Nenad Cicmil: Most people who criticize this young man seem to lack understanding how the world works, especially Toronto world. Yes TED talks should be amazing, the topic should be very interesting with superb delivery. This talk is neither. But...the guy is extra cute. His delivery makes people feel warm and fuzzy. When this guy is interviewed for a job he will be selected over dozens of more qualified candidates due to his X-factor. The X-factor is not such a mysterious component. It is the combination of physical appearance, likable attitude, pleasant voice and a great smile. Everyone will want to hire him because he will "fit well in the company's culture" and is "willing to learn". I clicked on the video just because I saw the muscles bulging from the non-wrinkle GAP shirt. I would possibly hire him myself.
Claire Boyle: Most people I know don't keep 'junk' in their homes anyway, what a waste of time
The Triple Threat Artist: Great information, thanks for talking about this.
DAY Choi: whatever he said, I am with him 100%. His cuteness did everything!
Luke Morley: boring
fred flintstone: cant remember Luke saying what food's he replaced the bad food's with. cant even remember what the bad food's were, he removed. guess I'll have to watch again and pay closer attention. at least the straight girl's got a little eye candy
Sam Studios: This really hits me hard because my little brother is way overweight and I didn’t know what to do until this video. Thank you Luke, you’ve saved my guilt and saved my brother from bullies and possible depression
Steven Stallone: Two important things to note is that his younger brother doesn't have a car and can drive to buy things, so it's very inconvenient for him to get anything outside of the house, this is not a problem adults have, the next most important thing is that his older brother was a role model in which the younger brother ascribe towards.
Sleep Sounds - ASMR Sleep Triggers: Thanks! Very inspiring topic :)
Roshni Bhakta: Wasn't expecting a story, wow.
ballerstew: Thanks for wasting my time
Amber Renee: People should stop making fun of him. Most people are terrified of public speaking and he did a lot better than others could’ve so props to him
cjl1195: Im watching this with a big bag of doritos right next to me....
Rahr: I liked fries too much...decided i was going to stop having them everyday and have them only 3 times a week...but after sometime i was hooked by the fruit and veg that i only ate them one a month...then only once in 3 months..then nothing..now i only eat them when there is no alternative and they must be made in a certain way...but am shocked to find that i will choose a fruit platter over them in a restaurant...moral of the story..don't cut out junk you are hooked onto...just decide how many yimes you are gonna eat it..you won't feel deprived and you will slowly start enjoying healthier alternatives...e.g..you like wine...or soda...reduce the number of times you drink it.
Da Do: With apps like Just Eat its easy to order food
Place holder: Does anyone have a collection quick, healthy, and tasty recipies and what do u do with waste/extra ingredients?
gdeosara: damn I didn't listen to a word he was saying...good job ;)
