Another YouTube Patron: Look, buddy, I really appreciate what you're trying to do, but may I politely point out one little thing? Not to pick a fight or anything, but it's not always true that the idea of people judging you harshly is irrational. I used to be quite the social butterfly. School dances, movie nights, day trips, whatever.....I just enjoyed meeting new groups of people and hopefully making a few new friends. Then I had a car accident that resulted in a disability. Suddenly, new people I met wanted nothing to do with me. I got kicked out of two colleges, five jobs, and a church, not because my personality was any different or I was too needy, but simply because I was disabled; thus I was unwelcome. It really makes it hard to trust people or give anyone a chance. I went from being a social butterfly to greeting anyone who said hello to me with "I have mace." I'm not trying to argue with you or start a fight or a pity party, but I think you should be aware that yes, there are certain situations where groups of people will indeed judge a newcomer harshly and unjustly in real life, not just in somebody's worried imagination.

ritchski1: I got very anxious at antenatal class recently with my wife where I had to socialise. i ended up shutting down and couldn't speak, I lost my voice and every ounce of confidence. It was strange, I felt myself shrinking in a way I hadn't since school and now I am 40. It shows you it doesn't go away unless you address it. I never have faced it, I always make sure I an in control or know everyone in social settings, if I don't I get very anxious. so that antenatal nearly ended me, it caught me by surprise lol.
for me I think it is caused my lack of self worth, I have a big ego which kind of hides it but when not in control I think people see me as the loser and waste of space I am. Its not like I really am a loser, I have a job wife and kid on the way, but I am not where I want to be career wise or feel fulfilled, I waste a lot of time and don't help myself either. I feel very inadequate around others, I always assume they are the big success in all areas, mentally, physically and career wise, while I don't match up at all. I avoid these situations because I have to face my internal failures. so probably need some therapy!
